چکیده

We investigate the discretization errors affecting correlators of the energy-momentum tensor Tμν at finite temperature in SU(Nc) gauge theory with the Wilson action and two different discretizations of Tμν . We do so by using lattice perturbation theory and non-perturbative MonteCarlo simulations. These correlators, which are functions of Euclidean time x0 and spatial momentum p, are the starting point for a lattice study of the transport properties of the gluon plasma. We find that the correlator of the energy ∫ dxT00 has much larger discretization errors than the correlator of momentum ∫ dxT0k. Secondly, the shear and diagonal stress correlators (T12 and Tkk) require Nτ ≥ 8 for the Tx0 = 1 2 point to be in the scaling region and the cutoff effect to be less than 10%. We then show that their discretization errors on an anisotropic lattice with aσ/aτ = 2 are comparable to those on the isotropic lattice with the same temporal lattice spacing. Finally, we also study finite p correlators.

Energy-momentum tensor correlators and spectral functions

We calculate the thermal Euclidean correlators and the spectral functions of the energymomentum tensor for pure gauge theories, including at non-zero spatial momentum, at leading order in perturbation theory. Our goal is to improve the extraction of transport properties from Euclidean correlators that are computable in lattice QCD. Based on our results and the predictions of hydrodynamics for t...

Cutoff effects in meson spectral functions

Temporal meson correlation functions in Euclidean time can be related to meson spectral functions by analytic continuation. Furthermore using the Maximum Entropy Method one can extract the spectral functions from meson correlators calculated on a finite lattice [1]. The method was applied at zero [1,2] as well as non-zero temperature [3,4,5,6]. In such an analysis one usually uses all time slic...

Computing the viscosity of the QGP on the lattice

Models treating the system produced in heavy ion collisions at RHIC as an ideal fluid have had significant success in describing the observed large elliptic flow.1), 2) Subsequently the leading corrections due to a finite shear viscosity η were estimated3) and led to a remarkably small upper bound on η. Non-equilibrium Dynamics of Hot Abelian Higgs Model

Depending on its details, the electroweak phase transition may explain the observed baryon asymmetry in the Universe. Although static equilibrium properties such as the phase structure of the theory have been determined to high accuracy with numerical lattice simulations, much less is known about non-equilibrium dynamics, or even real-time correlators in equilibrium. The reason is that to calcu...

Matching Current Correlators in Lattice QCD to Chiral Perturbation Theory

Chiral perturbation theory gives direct and unambiguous predictions for the form of various two-point hadronic correlators at low momentum in terms of a finite set of couplings in a chiral Lagrangian. In this paper we study the feasibility of extracting the couplings in the chiral Lagrangian (through 1-loop order) by fitting two-point correlators computed in lattice QCD to the predicted chiral ...
